Painting 13

"Tin House Court" in the Byward Market, Ottawa.  I started this painting Plein-Air and finshed it in the studio from memory.

Painting 12

"Laszlo" - Talented Architect - Wicked sense of humour!

Painting 11

I am always amazed at how smart crows are here in Ottawa. I had one walk into my site trailer earlier in the year with absolutely no concern for me sitting there. He showed up two days in a row, walked right in, looked at me, checked the place out and then just waltzed back out. This painting is of a crow near our house who was obviously very curious keeping an eye on Janice and I as we walked down the street - I figured he spotted Janice's sparkly stuff!!!

Painting 10

My bud Joel from Montreal.

Painting 9

saw a Monarch Butterfly at the Ornamental Gardens a couple weeks ago. I haven't seen one this close in years. My guess is that they have always been there, but I have been blind to the world around me.  painting daily has opened my eyes to seeing those things right in front of my nose.

Painting 8

After recuperating from an awesome 50th B-day party, it is time to get back to the easel and paint!  This painting is of the Supreme Court of Canada building on my walk home from work.

Painting 7

Cool autumn day along the Ottawa River Parkway near Westboro Beach.

Painting 6

Nothing like James Joyce's Ulysses, a glass of red wine and a small painting!

Painting 3

I have started commuting to/from work several days a week on foot - some days are a walking commute, others are a running commute - 9km each way.  I did this painting from my walk home last evening - a painting of one of my favourite places in Ottawa, Westboro Beach.  The fall colours were incredibly vibrant.  It is amazing how much more we see when we stop driving or taking public transportation.

Painting No. 2

The artist, in his Living Room after a day of sketching.

November 30 Paintings in 30 Days Challenge

I have challenged myself to painting 30 paintings in the month of November. Its kind of like training for a major running race.  There is the euphoria with the inception of challenging oneself physically, mentally or in this case creatively.  This will likely be followed by self doubt, feeling like a twit for announcing to the world that I have endeavoured on this path, despair, exhaustion and if I am able to survive the month euphoria again.  I have no doubts in my mind that I likely have bitten off more than I can chew, but hey, this is pretty well the standard approach for me in lots of areas of my life.  It is now day 2, and I have finished 2 paintings! Only 28 paintings to go!
